By encouraging students to memorize course content in a more imaginative, inventive, and enjoyable way, this research seeks to increase students' cognitive capacity. This is done in mathematics class on multiplication of basic numbers. This research involved 20 second grade students at SD Negeri 1 Sungai Riam in Pelaihari District. Classroom action research was carried out in two rounds. Student learning objective tests and observation sheets were used to collect data. The Make a Match approach, a learning paradigm that combines lecture and question and answer techniques, was used in this research. After being given a test in the form of questions during learning activities, the findings of classroom action research on the topic of addition and multiplication of basic matching numbers appeared to be better. In cycle I the average student learning outcome score was 60 indicating completeness of 33.34%. In cycle II this number increased to 75 which showed 95% completeness. The data shows a noteworthy improvement, demonstrating the benefits of using a lecture style and question and answer format in learning. To improve student learning outcomes and make learning more enjoyable, schools should provide opportunities for teachers to develop their skills in using various approaches or methods when teaching mathematics. In conclusion, teachers can apply effective lecture and question and answer methods on basic number matching multiplication material
