Author Guidelines
Authors must submit their manuscript online after registering as an author on the website https://journal.mudaberkarya.id/index.php/lokatara/index.
Every submitted article must comply with the terms and conditions according to the Style Guide of LOKATARA: Journal of Community Service.
Instructions for LOKATARA Journal Authors
General Provisions
- The manuscript must be written in Indonesian or English.
- The submitted manuscript must be an original work, not previously published, free from plagiarism, and has been checked using an online plagiarism detection service with results less than 25%.
- Authors must register as authors on the LOKATARA journal website to submit and upload the manuscript.
- Please download the template to adjust your article according to our guidelines.
- The manuscript submission must be approved by all authors and relevant authorities (e.g., institutions or sponsors).
- The manuscript may be written in either Indonesian or English with a word count range between 5000 – 7000 words or a maximum of 15 pages, including images, tables, and references.
- The maximum file size is 5 MB with .docx format.
- The manuscript will be published in LOKATARA: Journal of Community Service after being reviewed by peer reviewers.
- The editorial staff has the right to edit the manuscript without altering its content.
- The author(s) are responsible for the content of the published manuscript.
- All communication must be electronic-based.
Manuscript writing systematic
- Title
- The title must use effective words, a maximum of 15 words, written in both Indonesian and English.
- Author names (without academic titles) must be accompanied by affiliations, including name, program of study, institution/university, city, and country.
- The corresponding author or responsible author must be marked with an asterisk "*".
- Abstract
- The abstract must be written in both Indonesian and English.
- The abstract should be a single paragraph containing the problem, purpose, method, results, and conclusion.
- The abstract must be written without references, abbreviations/acronyms, and footnotes.
- The abstract must not be written in mathematical form, as a question, or an assumption.
- The abstract should not be a direct copy-paste from the content of the manuscript.
The abstract should be a maximum of 250 words with 3–5 keywords in alphabetical - order, separated by semicolons (;).
- Introduction
- The introduction consists of the background and objectives.
- The background should be empirical, with a conceptual framework based on relevant studies published within the last 10 years. It includes a review of previous literature (state of the art) to establish the scientific novelty of the article, scientific novelty statements, problems or hypotheses, and discussions of facts or phenomena in the target population that justify the implementation of the community service activity.
- The purpose of the community service activity should be briefly explained with the target outcomes.
- Abbreviations should be explained when first used and consistently used throughout the article.
- Methodology
- The research methodology includes materials, tools, steps, or methods used in the community service activity.
- All materials and main tools used in the activity must be described to help solve the problems. Materials should include brand and purity (e.g., H2SO4 (Merck, 99%)), while equipment examples include Electric Furnace (Carbolite). Components of supporting equipment need not be listed.
- The methodology should be clearly and completely explained, detailing how to address problems, challenges, or issues and achieve the activity's objectives. The methods include data collection techniques (including sample selection methods, validity, and reliability of the data collection tools), data analysis techniques, location, time, and duration of the activity. This section requires the author to explain the situation before the activity was carried out and the expected results.
- Methodology can include flowcharts or images.
- Please reference prior publications if the methods are based on previously published articles, and provide details if modifying these methods.
- Results and Discussion
- The results must be presented correctly with explanations, including findings from the activity. Results may be presented in numerical form, tables, images, and graphs if necessary.
- The discussion must be scientific, not merely descriptive, and supported by adequate data and scientific phenomena. Additionally, comparisons with similar studies must be discussed.
- The author should emphasize the analysis of conditions before and after the community service program/activity.
- Every assumption must be clearly stated.
- The results and discussion must address the objectives or hypotheses of the activity.
- All tables, images, and graphs must be relevant to the activity and comply with the template format.
- Conclusion
- The conclusion must reflect the answers to the hypothesis and/or activity objectives, as well as the scientific findings obtained.
- The conclusion should not merely repeat the results and discussion.
- The impact and benefits of the activity should be mentioned.
- At the end of the conclusion, suggestions and future plans may be added.
- Acknowledgments
- The acknowledgment section must include parties who provided assistance during the activity.
- The conflict of interest statement must be clearly written if you (or your company or sponsor) have any financial, commercial, legal, or professional relationship with any organization or individuals that could affect your research.
- If funding comes from a grant provided by a university, college, or research institution, state the name of the funding organization.
- If there is no funding from any institution, include the following statement: "This activity did not receive specific funding from any public sector, commercial, or non-profit funding agencies."
- CONFLICT OF INTEREST
State any conflict of interest, such as financial, professional, or personal relationships relevant to the submitted work. This includes mentioning the funding source and its role in the design of the activity, data collection and analysis, manuscript writing, and/or decision to submit the manuscript to LOKATARA; and/or whether they have worked or previously worked with an organization that could benefit from the publication of this article.
- REFERENCES
- The references should be written according to the APA (American Psychological Association) 7th Edition format.
- The references should be arranged alphabetically.
- The reference list must include primary sources (scientific journals, with at least 80% of references from journals published in the last 10 years).
- Each article must have a minimum of 10 references.
It is highly recommended to use 70% journal references and 30% book references. - The citation system in the article text and reference list should preferably use reference management software such as Mendeley, EndNote, Zotero, or others.
